Questions for Chapters 7,8

1. How is Huck able to escape from Pap? Describe the events.

1. when Pap is out Huck saws his way out of the cabin then gets all the things he needs and puts them in the canoe then huck kills a pig and spreads his blood everywhere to make it look like he had been murdered.

3. Jim hears miss watson wants to sell him so jim runs away on the raft and also ends up on jackson's island

1. Pap goes to the market to sell fish, so Huck decides to go to the river and there he finds a canoe. SO he gets the idea of hunting a pig and then killing it which would make it look like Huck got killed himself.
2. He ends up on Jackson's island.
3. He heard Miss Watson say that she was planning on selling Jim, so he gets scared that he will get seperated from his family and escapes.
4. He invests in livestock-cattle.

1. Once pap is drunk and dead asleep, Huck saws through the wall of the cabin with an old rusted saw. and then he kills a pig then cuts off his head and spills the blook around the cabin to make it look like a murder.

3. Jim sneaks out in the middle of hte night, finds a raft and makes it to jackson island, same night as huck.

1. Huck is able to escape from Pap by pretending he has been murdered. He executed this by killing a pig and spreading the pigs blood everywhere.

  1. He saws through the cabin wall and spreads pig blood all around the house making it seem like someone had killed Huck. He also took all of Pap's stuff and escaped in the hidden canoe.

  3. Jim hears that Miss Watson wants to sell him down to New Orleans so Jim steals a raft and goes to Jackson's Island.
  4. Jim invests in livestock. He bought a cow but it didn't make him as much money as he thought he would and later on also lost the last bit of money he had.

1.huck escapes his father by progresivly sawing a hole in the wall and eventually makes a hole big enough to fit himself and all the contents of the cabin through. For a reassurance that he would not be pursued, huck smeared pig blood about the cabin to mimic the scene of a murder.

4.jim once had a spare amount of money in which he invested into livestock. a cow.


- Huck's plan for escape consisted of cutting a hold through the locked cabin's wall, setting up a fake murder scene to distract Pap, and looting the cabin for supplies to live off of.
- Huck goes to Jackson Island.
- Jim ran away from his home by seemingly going to the pastures, getting a ride on a barge, and swimming to Jackson Island.

1. Huck is able to escape from Pap when Pap goes to town one day. After Pap’s departure, Huck crawled through a hole he saw in the cabin. After he got out of the cabin, he takes a nearby canoe away. Huck tries to think of something that he can do to make the escape like realistic. So he decides on shooting a pig and spreading blooding around the cabin to make it look like he was murdered. 2. Huck Finn winds up at a nearby island called Jackson’s Island. 3. Jim’s owner had promised him that he was never going to be sold. However, he overhears his master talking about someone offering to pay $800 dollars for Jim. So Jim runs away at night, steals a raft he found, and eventually ends up at Jackson’s Island where he then finds Huck! 4. Jim invests in livestock (cows), one cow dies in his hands.(Laura)

1. Huck is able to escape from Pap mainly due to the canoe he found in the river. Once Pap left, he continued sawing at the back of the cabin in order to escape. He quickly gathered all necessities and loaded them into the canoe.
2. Huck winds up on Jackson's Island after his escape.
3. Jim escapes by hiding in the barn after overhearing the widow discussing her plans to sell him down to New Orleans. From the barn, he steals a raft and escapes to Jackson's Island.

3. He heard about his widow talking about taking him to sell in New Orleans. Scared, he bolts and goes into hiding for hours in a barn, then takes/ steals a raft to the island.
4. Jim invested in livestock...mainly cattle. But because it died, he only recieved 9 dollars for it. He later invested in other "stocks" but lost that money too.

1. Huck kills a pig and spreads the pig's blood to look like it was his own blood from someone killing him and then throwing him in the river. After setting the scene of his death Huck takes off in the canoe with a saw and other valuables.

1. Huck escapes when Pap leaves. Huck makes it seem like he was murdered, and takes a canoe and paddles away.

3. Jim had heard that he was going to be sold by his master for eight hundred dollars, so he runs away. He then hides in a barn until he
can steal a raft and makes his way to Jackson's Island.
4. Jim decided to invest some of his money into stock. At first, he bought stock in a cow but the cow died, so he lost that money.

1.When Pap goes to town, he crawls out of the cabin through a hole and rides a canoe he found to safety. He shoots and kills a pig and splatters its blood all over the cabin to make it look like he was killed. He ransacks the house for all of its valuables and makes off down the river.

3. Jim was about to be sold by his master for 800 dollars, so he decides to run away. He hides in a bran for an entire day and then steals a raft and heads down river and eventually lands on Jackson's Island.
4. Jim spends ten dollars on a cow, which later dies in his hands. He then sells the hide for a dollar and ten cents and later re-invests his money. (((Parker)))

Huck finds a canoe while the Mississippi tide is high and hides it in some willows, then he kills a pig w/ an axe and puts his hair on it so it looks like he got axed in the head, then he takes off w/ some items from the lodge to make it look like someone also took Paps gun and excapes on the canoe.

3. After finfding out that he is going to be sold for $800, he takes a raft to Jakson's Island b/c they cant follow his tracks
4. Jim invests in livestock, but it dies and loses 9 out of 10 dollars, then out of the remaining $5.10, he invests in a bank but it fails, and the last 10¢ he gives it to the church in promice of 100X prophit but in the end he loses all of his money.

1. Huck waits for Pap to go to town; then he finishes cutting a hole in the wall. He brings supplies to the canoe. Huck goes in the woods and shoots a pig. He smashes the door of the cabin, and he fakes his own death by dragging a pig he shot through the cabin and down to the river.

4. Jim had $14 dollars so he invested in livestock. He invested $10 of $9 to a cow but it died in his arms so he sold the hide for $1.10. Then he deposited $5 to a bank but it busted the next day. Then he had a dream to give his last 10 cents to a slave named Balum. Balem heard in church that if you gave to the poor you would get 100 fold back...but he didn't and had nothing left. (Neil)

1. After grabbing all the things he needs to run away, Huck took a saw and finished cutting a hole in the log, killed a pig in the house, spread it’s blood in the house and to the river with a sack filled with rocks to make it look like he had been murdered and had been dumped in the river.

3. Once Jim discovers that he is going to be sold he makes a run for it. He catches a ride on a skift down the river. He swims to shore and hears stories of Huck's murder. They meet up a few days later and trade stories.
4. Jim invest in cattle, but losses that investment very quickly when the cattle dies. Then sells the hide for $1.10. Later he gives that money to a fellow slave, but "nutin e'er come of dat".

3. When Jim finds out he may be shipped away he hids in a cabin. Then steals a canoe and begins going down the river. He stopped at Jackson's Island.
4. Jim invests in cattle. He bought one cow and spent $10 on the cow but the cow dies. Luckly he is able to sell the hide and get back $1.10. (Taylor)

1. Huck is very creative, when escaping from Pap. He uses a saw to cut a whole in the roof, and climbs out. Then he takes all of the possessions out of the house and puts it in a canoe he found floating on the river. He finds a pig and cuts its throat, then puts heavy rocks in a bag and drags it to the water. This makes the whole thing look like a murder scene-- so Pap does not think he has escaped, but been killed during a robbery. 2. Jackson's Island.3.
